Thought I Was Getting It Right With Sugar

I was out walking with a friend the other day and we started talking about his health, workouts and diet (as if I would be talking about such things)

He told me he’s been exercising every day and eating healthy, I told him this was brilliant

Then he told me that he has started drinking lots of natural juices made with fruit

I had to stop him there and told him he’s going to reverse the great effects of his exercise routines by drinking all these juices.

I understand when you think that juices are healthy for you, because they contain a lot of nutrients and anti-oxidants.

So why did I have to ask him to stop drinking them if they contain a lot of goodness?

Its all down to the amount of sugar, in most juices the sugar content is extremely high. Even in the more green / healthy ones.

With all the recent reports on sugar we all know what sugar does, don’t we?

Sugar makes you FAT! Plain and simple oh yes it also ages the body quicker.

If you read the label on a fruit juice, you’ll almost always see either apple or orange juice is the first or second ingredient, which means THE SUGAR CONTENT IS HIGH!.

Don’t be taken in by labels that say “organic”, “natural”, or “not from concentrate”. That’s all fine and dandy, but it still doesn’t change the fact that there’s a load of sugar contained inside.

Most juices you can buy use juicing machines which removes the healthy fibre the body needs for a health digestive system.

If you’re going to drink juice, make sure the fibre is also contained in the mix… Fiber slows the uptake of sugar into your bloodstream, preventing your insulin levels from going sky high. This is why eating a piece of fruit is NOT the same as drinking it.

What happens if we have too much sugar?

Sugar causes your insulin to spike. When you eat too much of it more insulin is produced and with the more insulin the more, your body converts the excess sugar into fat and stores it.

Where does the body store the excess fat?

Take a look in the mirror, does that give you the answer?
