Exercise is an important part of everybody’s life especially exercise for busy moms.  Exercise helps relieve stress and makes you feel good about yourself. Whether it means getting up early, fitting in 2 10-minute workouts throughout the day or doing a quick exercise video while the kids are having a nap.

Everyone has the same number of hours in a day, so we can all find time to put some form of exercise.  Exercise for busy moms is not always easy, and just because I exercise regularly doesn’t mean I pop out of bed at 5 a.m, excited and energized to work out.   As a busy professional some days I have to drag myself out of bed, some days my scheduled workout doesn’t happen but I exercise when I can.

So if you’re a busy mom, how do you begin to find time for exercise?  Here are a few suggestions that busy moms tell me work for them

6 Exercise For Busy Moms Strategies

  1. Get others around you on board with your commitment.  You can’t do everything for everyone all the time. Sometimes, you need help.    Tell your family and friends, they may help you with looking after the kids.  Having the support of family and friends makes the commitment so much easier.
  2. Schedule exercise as part of your day just like anything else.  If you’re like me, your appointment calendar is busy with things you have to do.  Why shouldn’t you schedule time for your workout too?  Plan your workouts for the week ahead and write them down on your diary or smartphone.  You wouldn’t skip a meeting at the office or your child’s school, so treat your exercise appointments with the same importance.
  3. Accept that some days will be easier than others, but success in your grasp.  There are days when your planned workout may have to be cut short.  There are days when because of commitments your workout doesn’t happen at all.  As long as most days, things work out as planned, that’s all you can ask for as a busy mom.
  4. Don’t be hard on yourself.  Just because you don’t have an hour to exercise doesn’t mean 10 or 15 minutes aren’t worth the effort.  In fact small amounts of exercise for busy moms can give just the same results or better results.
  5. Be creative.  Don’t use “lack of time” as an excuse not to exercise.  Get your kids involved, break your workout into shorter segments throughout the day, or use time when you kids are doing their thing  to get in a workout.  If you are willing to make exercise a priority in your life, sometimes you’ll have to do it in less-than-ideal conditions.  I’d much rather have an hour to myself to exercise, but if it’s 20 minutes with my kids in the room, at least it’s something!
  6. Invest in a personal trainer like Ideal Fitness Telford who will schedule your workouts around your busy lifestyle at your home so you don’t have to rush to drop off the kids before starting your workout.  The personal trainer will provide you with the fun workouts and nutrition planning that you need to be successful and provide you with the accountability and motivation to reach your goals successfully.  Exercise for busy moms doesn’t have to be a nightmare.
