Support Is Your Rock

Having a support network helps you accomplish your goals, if you don’t have that support, can you still succeed? Friends and family members have their faults. Sometimes hurtful things are said, or less healthy temptations are put in your path. Here are some ways to overcome support barriers, and reach your fitness goals.

Do It For You.

Always lose weight for yourself, not for others, because you matter. You might be improving your health so you can be a better manager or mother, but reaching your weight loss goal means that you have to make yourself a priority, put yourself first. Remember you are making these changes to be a better you. If you lose weight to please someone like your partner, you are always going to come up against negative thoughts. When the reaction you expect to receive from the person you are doing it for does not happen you will always go back to your old habits because as you will tell yourself “why should I continue?”

Learn To Dismiss Negatives.

Some people might criticised you for the way you are reaching your weight loss goal, or see you as selfish for taking time to exercise. Don’t take these comments on board, or allow them to negatively influence your own positive thoughts and reasons for going for your goal. You may find it all comes from jealousy, fear, or a lack of confidence to follow your path.

Use and practice mind-set techniques to keep you on top of what you want to achieve. Visualisation of your end goal, what your body will look like, how you will feel, what you will be wearing and what you will be saying are all ways to you succeeding and staying positive.

When an athlete wants to reach his or her full potential using mind-set by fine-tuning their game mentally and emotionally, he or she can eventually exceed even his or her greatest expectations.

Learn To Say No.

Many people-like to please and feel pressure to eat in social situations even when they are not hungry. It is difficult for these people to say “no” for fear of making another person uncomfortable or not fitting in. Friends and family may offer unhealthy food choices, invite you to eat out, or bring unhealthy foods into the house. If you like to please you will likely find it more difficult to say no. Learn to politely decline these offers, this does not make you a bad or unsocial person.

Keep Yourself Motivated.

Focus on evaluating your progress, set short-term goals (daily or even half daily) so you are always winning. Try to avoid depending on others to keep you motivated.   It is good to have support but that support cannot be with you all day and night,. You have to want this, you have to believe you can do this, you are strong enough to reach your goals.

Create Your Own Support

Having another person to call on for support when things get a little tough gives us strength, makes us accountable, provides encouragement, and provides inspiration. Look to get the support outside of your friends and family, get the support from someone who has a proven track record of helping others reach the amazing goals you desire to achieve. This is why using a body transformation coach like Ideal Fitness is so important It is comforting to know that you can engage with others who are on the same journey.
